Culturecom’s Comic Adaptation of City of Darkness （九龍城寨） Launches in Japan as SMARTOON on Kakao Piccoma

Culturecom Holdings Limited is pleased to announce that its official Hong Kong comic adaptation of City of Darkness, drawn by renowned Hong Kong artist Andy Seto (司徒劍橋), has launched on the Japanese digital platform Piccoma in SMARTOON format.

Titled 《九龍城砦 CITY OF DARKNESS 〜義理と人情の無法街〜》, Piccoma has released its own SMARTOON version of the IP, based on Culturecom’s comic adaptation. This is the comic version of the hit movie Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (九龍城寨之圍城).

This launch marks another important step in bringing Culturecom’s Hong Kong comic adaptations to a wider international audience. The original Hong Kong comic previously received international recognition by winning the Bronze Award at the 7th Japan International Manga Award (日本国際漫画賞).

The City of Darkness (九龍城寨) comic series was originally produced in 2010 by The One Comics Publishing Limited (一漫年出版有限公司), an acclaimed adaptation of Yuyi's novel. The publishing house was founded by Toby Yue, who currently serves as the General Manager of Citicomics Limited, a publishing subsidiary of Culturecom Holdings Limited. Following Culturecom’s acquisition of The One Comics in 2014, the City of Darkness comic remains a cornerstone of our intellectual property portfolio, and we are proud to see its artistic legacy continue to reach new heights on the global stage.
